It isn't changing the design.......It's changing the drawing.

I've seen beautifully engineered CAD models end up causing unnecessary questions on the workshop floor because the drawing didn't communicate the design clearly.

A good manufacturing drawing should answer almost every question before fabrication starts.
- Is the material clearly specified?
- Is the Bill of Materials correct?
- Are critical dimensions identified?
- Is the finish called out?
- Can someone build it without making assumptions?

Every question the fabricator has is time...
...and time costs money.

The best drawings aren't the ones with the most dimensions.
They're the ones that leave the fewest unanswered questions.

As engineers, we often focus on designing great products.
But great products are only possible when they're communicated just as well.
